Seachem Matrix is a highly porous biomedia that provides efficient biological filtration for the removal of nitrogenous waste in both freshwater and marine aquariums.

Efficient Biological Filtration

Matrix™ is a porous inorganic solid, approximately 10 mm in diameter, designed to maximize the surface area available for beneficial bacteria. Unlike traditional plastic media, Matrix™ offers both external and internal macroporous surfaces, ideally sized to support nitrifying and denitrifying bacteria. This dual-surface action allows Matrix™ to effectively remove ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate simultaneously within the same filter. Each liter of Matrix™ provides an impressive surface area of over 700 m², equivalent to approximately 170 liters of plastic bio-balls.

Dosage and Usage

Use approximately 250 mL of Matrix™ for every 200 liters (50 US gallons) of aquarium water. Matrix™ can be placed in any type of filter. For optimal performance, ensure good water flow through the media. Seachem recommends using Stability® in conjunction with Matrix™ to rapidly establish the aquarium’s bio-filter.
