Salifert Magnésio (Mg) Teste
Accurately measure magnesium levels in your saltwater aquarium with the Salifert Magnésio (Mg) Teste.
Magnesium is a vital element in marine and reef aquariums, playing a crucial role in photosynthesis and maintaining the delicate balance of calcium and alkalinity. Low magnesium levels can hinder the proper functioning of chlorophyll, impacting the health of corals, algae, and plants. It also acts as a critical buffer, stabilizing pH and preventing the premature precipitation of calcium carbonate, which can lead to the depletion of essential trace elements. Maintaining optimal magnesium levels, typically between 1300-1500 ppm for natural seawater, is essential for a thriving reef ecosystem.
Why Test Magnesium?
- Supports Photosynthesis: Essential for chlorophyll production, vital for corals, algae, and plants.
- Maintains Ionic Balance: Helps stabilize calcium and alkalinity levels, preventing imbalances.
- Promotes Growth: Indirectly supports coral and calcareous algae growth by enabling stable calcium and alkalinity.
- Prevents Depletion: Slows down the formation of calcium carbonate, preserving trace elements.
How to Use the Salifert Magnésio (Mg) Teste:
This test kit provides approximately 50 measurements. Follow these steps for accurate results:
- Using the 2ml syringe, add 2ml of aquarium water to the test vial.
- Add 6 drops of Mg-1 and swirl gently for 30 seconds.
- Add one level spoonful of Mg-2 powder and swirl for 10 seconds.
- Fill the 1ml syringe with Mg-3 reagent to the 1.00 ml mark, ensuring the plastic tip is submerged.
- Slowly add the Mg-3 reagent drop by drop to the test vial while swirling, until the color changes to gray or blue.
- Read the volume of Mg-3 used on the syringe. The magnesium concentration can be calculated using the provided formula or table.
This test is for marine water only. Ensure your marine aquarium’s magnesium levels are within the optimal range to support a healthy and balanced ecosystem.
