Descrição
Formula One, often abbreviated as F1, is the highest class of international auto racing for open-wheel, single-seater formula racing cars. Sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), the FIA Formula One World Championship has been a premier motorsport event since its inception in 1950 and is widely regarded as the pinnacle of motorsport. The name “Formula” refers to the set of regulations that all competing cars must adhere to.
A Formula One season is comprised of a series of races known as Grands Prix, which take place in various countries and continents on purpose-built circuits or temporary street circuits. The sport is known for its cutting-edge technology, intense rivalries, and global appeal.
Key aspects of Formula One include:
* **Cars:** F1 cars are highly advanced, featuring sophisticated aerodynamics, powerful engines, and complex suspension systems. They are designed for maximum speed and performance.
* **Drivers and Teams:** A season features a grid of 22 drivers competing for 11 teams (constructors). Each driver must possess a Super Licence, the highest racing license issued by the FIA.
* **Championships:** Two annual World Championships are awarded: one for drivers and one for constructors (teams). Points are awarded at each Grand Prix to determine the champions.
* **Calendar:** The F1 calendar typically includes a series of Grand Prix races held throughout the year, with specific dates and locations announced annually. The 2026 season, for example, has seen races like the Dutch Grand Prix and the Las Vegas Grand Prix.
* **History:** Formula One has a rich history, with iconic teams like Ferrari and McLaren achieving numerous championships. Legendary drivers such as Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton hold records for the most titles.
