Seachem Prime is a concentrated aquarium water conditioner for both freshwater and saltwater aquariums that removes chlorine and chloramine, and detoxifies ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate.

What it does:

Seachem Prime is an essential all-in-one water conditioner that ensures tap water is safe for your aquarium inhabitants. It effectively removes chlorine and chloramines, which are toxic to fish and beneficial bacteria. Furthermore, Prime temporarily detoxifies ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate, converting them into a safe, non-toxic form that can be readily processed by the aquarium’s biological filter. This makes it invaluable during the initial tank cycling process or when dealing with sudden spikes in toxic nitrogen compounds. Prime also helps to detoxify heavy metals present in tap water and promotes the natural slime coat of fish. It is non-acidic, will not affect pH, and will not over-activate protein skimmers, making it safe for reef aquariums.

Dosage and Usage:

The standard dose for Seachem Prime is 5 mL (1 capful) per 200 L (50 US gallons) of new water. The cap includes markings for smaller, approximate 1 mL doses. Prime should ideally be added to new water before it enters the aquarium, but can be added directly to the tank if necessary, basing the dose on the total aquarium volume.

• Regular Water Changes: Dose for the volume of new water being added.
• High Chloramine Concentrations: A double dose can be safely used.
• Emergency Ammonia/Nitrite Detoxification: Up to 5 times the normal dose can be safely used to temporarily detoxify ammonia and nitrite for approximately 24-48 hours. Re-dose daily during an emergency until the biological filter can handle the load.
• High Temperatures (>30°C / 86°F) with low chlorine/ammonia: Use a half dose.
