Glimmering Gold Rim Rhodactis: A Vibrant Addition to Your Reef

Discover the stunning beauty of the Gold Rim Rhodactis, a captivating mushroom coral that brings a splash of color and unique texture to any marine aquarium.

Overview

The Gold Rim Rhodactis, scientifically known as *Rhodactis inchoata*, is a striking corallimorph that resembles a mushroom with its fleshy body and numerous hair-like tentacles. This variety is distinguished by its vibrant coloration, often featuring a dazzling gold or green margin that contrasts beautifully with its central body and red mouth. These corals add dynamic visual interest to a reef tank, with their textured surfaces and unique undulating tentacle structures.

Care Level

Beginner-friendly, Rhodactis mushrooms are known for their hardiness and adaptability. While generally peaceful, they are considered semi-aggressive and should be given ample space to prevent them from stinging or overgrowing neighboring corals.

Tank Essentials

Provide a stable environment with low to moderate lighting (75-150 PAR is ideal) and gentle, indirect water flow. A minimum tank size of 30 gallons is recommended. Maintain stable water parameters: temperature between 22-28°C (72-83°F), pH 8.0-8.4, and salinity 1.023-1.025.

Diet

Primarily photosynthetic, Rhodactis mushrooms also benefit from supplemental feeding of small meaty foods, phytoplankton, or zooplankton 1-2 times per week to enhance growth and coloration.
