Vibrant Flame Hawkfish: A Fiery Gem for Your Reef!

Bring a splash of intense scarlet to your marine aquarium with the captivating Flame Hawkfish. Known for its bold color and unique perching behavior, this fish makes a striking addition.

Overview
The Flame Hawkfish (*Neocirrhites armatus*) boasts a brilliant flame-red body, accented by a distinctive black stripe along its dorsal fin and dark rings around its expressive eyes. Rather than actively swimming, this fascinating species often perches on live rock or coral branches, using its robust pectoral fins to survey its surroundings. They are active hunters, darting out from their chosen vantage point to snatch unsuspecting prey.

Care Level
Considered moderately difficult, the Flame Hawkfish is hardy but requires specific conditions to thrive. While generally peaceful with larger tankmates, they exhibit semi-aggressive tendencies towards smaller bottom-dwelling fish and motile invertebrates like ornamental shrimp or crabs, which they may view as prey. A single specimen is recommended, or a well-established male-female pair.

Tank Essentials
Provide a minimum 110-litre marine aquarium with ample live rock structures offering numerous perching spots and hiding places. Maintain stable water parameters with a pH range of 8.0-8.4 and temperatures between 24-28°C. A secure, tight-fitting lid is crucial, as these fish are known to jump when startled.

Diet
As carnivores, Flame Hawkfish thrive on a varied diet of meaty marine foods. Offer high-quality frozen preparations such as mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, and finely chopped seafood (squid, krill). Regular, varied feeding helps maintain their vibrant coloration.
