Overview

The Extreme Lime Monti Cap is a captivating small polyp stony (SPS) coral, celebrated for its unique plating or cap-like growth. This variant boasts an exceptionally vibrant, almost glowing lime green coloration that stands out in any reef tank. As it matures, it forms beautiful horizontal plates with wavy, swirling edges, creating a distinctive architectural element. Its small, delicate polyps give it a smooth, velvety texture, making it a peaceful and visually striking addition to your aquatic landscape.

Care Level

Considered a moderate care level SPS coral, the Montipora capricornis is an excellent choice for hobbyists ready to advance beyond soft corals. It requires stable water parameters but is more forgiving than some other SPS species. This peaceful coral is compatible with most other reef inhabitants, making it suitable for mixed reef aquariums.

Tank Essentials

A minimum tank size of 100 litres is recommended for a healthy Extreme Lime Monti Cap frag, with larger tanks preferred for full colony development. Maintain stable water parameters: a temperature of 24-27°C, pH 8.1-8.4, and salinity 1.025-1.026. Consistent alkalinity (7-9 dKH), calcium (400-450 ppm), and magnesium (1200-1400 ppm) are vital for its robust growth and brilliant color.

Diet

The Extreme Lime Monti Cap is primarily photosynthetic, relying on its symbiotic zooxanthellae for nutrition. Supplement its diet with broadcast feedings of micro-plankton, zooplankton, or amino acid solutions a few times a week to promote optimal growth and intense coloration in your healthy reef tank.
