Long Tentacle Soft Coral: Graceful Movement for Your Reef

Add a captivating, flowing elegance to your marine aquarium with the stunning Long Tentacle Soft Coral. Its mesmerizing sway brings dynamic natural beauty to any reef.

Overview

The Long Tentacle Soft Coral (*Sinularia flexibilis*) is a truly unique addition, boasting long, finger-like branches and a flexible, flowing structure. Its soft polyps create a beautiful, dynamic movement as they sway in your tank’s currents. Available in various hues, from beige and cream to vibrant greens and tans, this coral can quickly grow quite large, reaching up to 30 cm, and sometimes even larger in optimal conditions, adding significant visual interest.

Care Level

Considered a hardy and adaptable coral, the Long Tentacle Soft Coral is suitable for beginner to intermediate aquarists. While generally peaceful with fish and invertebrates, it exhibits a semi-aggressive temperament towards other corals, producing chemical compounds (terpenes) that can inhibit stony coral growth. Ensure ample space and utilize activated carbon to mitigate this.

Tank Essentials

A minimum tank size of 378 litres (100 gallons) is recommended to accommodate its potential growth and territorial nature. Provide moderate to strong, intermittent water flow and moderate to high lighting. Maintain stable water parameters: pH 8.1-8.4, and temperature 23-28°C.

Diet

Primarily photosynthetic due to its symbiotic zooxanthellae, the Long Tentacle Soft Coral greatly benefits from supplemental feedings. Offer micro-plankton, phytoplankton, and amino acids weekly to support its health and vibrant coloration.
