Overview

The ‘Mulberry Frost’ Ricordea Yuma, scientifically known as *Ricordea yuma*, is a striking corallimorph prized for its intense coloration and captivating “bubble-like” texture. Originating from the Indo-Pacific region, these corals feature a large oral disk covered in tentacles that radiate outwards. The ‘Mulberry Frost’ variety typically displays a rich blend of deep purples and pinks with frosty white or lighter tips, creating a truly mesmerizing effect. They are known for their resilience and ability to thrive in well-established reef systems, adding both color and dynamic visual interest.

Care Level

Easy to Moderate. While generally hardy, *Ricordea yuma* can be more sensitive to water quality fluctuations than some other mushroom corals. They are semi-aggressive and require adequate space from other corals to prevent stinging. Patience during acclimation is key for their long-term health.

Tank Essentials

A minimum of 40 litres (10 gallons) is recommended for a single polyp. Stable water parameters are crucial. Maintain a temperature range of 22-26°C (72-78°F), a specific gravity of 1.024-1.026, and a pH of 8.1-8.4.

Diet

Primarily photosynthetic, *Ricordea yuma* also benefits from supplemental feedings of small, meaty items like mysis shrimp, krill, or specialized coral foods, offered once or twice a week.
