Formula ONE, often shortened to F1, is the highest class of international racing for open-wheel, single-seater formula racing cars. Sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), it is considered the pinnacle of motorsport globally. The sport’s name, “Formula,” refers to the comprehensive set of rules that all competing cars must adhere to.

The FIA Formula One World Championship season consists of a series of races known as Grands Prix, held in various countries and continents on both purpose-built circuits and street circuits. For the 2026 season, there are 24 Grand Prix weekends scheduled, including six F1 Sprint races, spanning from March to December across 21 countries on five continents. The 2026 season kicks off with the Australian Grand Prix on March 6-8 and concludes with the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on December 4-6. Key events include the return of Madrid for its F1 debut, and a triple header in the Americas followed by races in Las Vegas, Qatar, and Abu Dhabi to close out the year.

Teams and drivers compete for two annual World Championships: one for drivers and one for constructors. As of the 2026 season, Audi is set to join as a works team with Sauber. Notable drivers in the 2026 season include Kimi Antonelli, George Russell, Lewis Hamilton, and Charles Leclerc, among others.
