Overview

The Molten Favites, often referred to as “War Coral,” is a captivating large polyp stony (LPS) coral known for its striking fiery hues and maze-like skeletal structure. Beginner. Favites corals are known for their hardiness and adaptability, making them an excellent choice for those new to the reef-keeping hobby. They are forgiving of minor fluctuations in water parameters but thrive best in stable conditions.

Tank Essentials

A minimum tank size of 75 litres (20 gallons) is recommended. Maintain stable water parameters with a pH between 8.1-8.4, alkalinity of 8-12 dKH, and a temperature range of 24-27°C (75-81°F). Moderate, indirect water flow is crucial to keep the coral clean without causing stress.

Diet

As a mixotrophic coral, Favites benefits from both light and targeted feeding. Supplement with meaty foods like Mysis shrimp or finely chopped marine foods a few times per week to encourage optimal growth and colouration.
