Unlike traditional plastic media, Matrix\u2122 offers both external and internal macroporous surfaces, ideally sized to support nitrifying and denitrifying bacteria. This dual-surface action allows Matrix\u2122 to effectively remove ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate simultaneously within the same filter.
