The Chequered Perchlet (*Plectranthias inermis*) is a charmingly diminutive marine fish, rarely exceeding 4.5 cm. It features a striking mottled pattern of reddish-orange and white, resembling a checkerboard, often complemented by captivating green eyes. Known for its hawkfish-like habit of perching on live rock and coral, this species observes its surroundings before darting out for food.
